Dinner for two

Italy has a well renowned – and well-deserved – reputation for romance. The very air seems to ooze amore. So it’s no wonder that a restaurant that could well be the most romantic eatery you’ll ever encounter is located here in the land of lovers. Solo Per Due, in the small town of Vacone about 60 kilometers north of Rome, is also billed as the world’s smallest restaurant, containing just one table for two.
The lavish meals are made to order, and are presented in the intimate, dimly-lit drawing room complete with roaring fire, or in the secluded palm garden under a vine-covered pergola with a view of distant rolling vineyards. Waiters are summoned with a tinkling silver bell, making the romantic seclusion of this little dream-world complete. On the grounds are the remains of an ancient Roman villa, heightening the story-book setting and sense of mystery. Evening meals are accompanied by a torch-lit drive and abundant candlelight.
The extravagant repast is prepared from seasonal, fresh local ingredients and is adapted to the desires of the clients, but is always a truly authentic Italian menu. They arrange the menu and accompaniments, such as background music, when you confirm the reservation. The owners will even arrange for flashy extras such as fireworks or limo service, adding to the dreamy celebration of romance.
