They may not have “happy hour” but Italian sure know how to stimulate their appetite. Having been used since the fifteenth century, Trabocchi are fishing platforms in an area that is known as Costa dei Trabocchi. The main platforms suspended over deep water are accessed by narrow walkways that many times look like planks laid down by kids over a ditch. Cheering crowds and pyrotechnics spraying sparks over the people make this a unique festa the week after Easter in the hill town of Ripatransone. Fly like an eagle in the Dolomiti Lucane in Basilicata between the charming mountain towns of Castelmezzano and Pietrapertosa (the highest town in the region). A unique wine only from the Piceno area of southern Marche. What does it take to make a real Italian caffe’? |
